Readers of LTTL will be delighted to know that I finally upgraded my camera…
The Kodak is the camera that really was a super little photographer. The pictures were ideal for the early days of the web, and the Kodak had one neat feature that I’ve only seen replicated a few times since: the use of AA batteries! You could slip into a convenience store, buy a set of digital type AA-sized batteries and you were good to go, if you ran out of the rechargeable battery!
Kodak Easyshare C360 5 MP Digital Camera with 3xOptical Zoom
The Lumix DMC30 is the smallest camera I ever used, and one that I got a lot of use out of, that is until it started to shooting everything in psychedelic purple. Nice! Time to buy a new one!
For the longest time, I’ve been using the Fujifilm SL260, a simpler consumer camera with an in-built zoom lens. But moisture managed to get into the works after a trip to HsinTien Going Temple in Taipei in the summer of 2016. The temple was using misters on a really hot day, and I thought it would be a good idea to try to capture the misting moments. A short while later, the viewfinder stopped working, and I’ve been having mechanical issues for a while now. All of the issues started after that trip.
Fast forward to 2017, when I decided it was time to upgrade again. I had planned to buy a new camera, but I was fed up waiting to save up the money. I decided to take a plunge into buying a 2nd hand camera from a fellow photowalker.

Nikon D3000
Now I know that the Nikon D3000 isn’t the latest godamn camera in the world. I know it’s not even the best… but for it’s the best camera I’ve ever had. EVER. Ages ago, I promised myself that if I ever got down to 100kg, I’d buy a better camera than my FUJIFILM SL260 that I’d been shooting with for nearly four years.
